We at Summit Simple Cremations own our private crematorium. Unlike most, we do not sub-contract our cremations, nor use 3rd party cremation services, so we pass the savings to you. You deal directly with the crematory without using a "middle man".
Because we own and operate our own crematory, your loved one is transported directly into our care. From the moment they are in our care, we begin a series of identifications and markers that stay with your loved one throughout the process.
We return your loved one’s cremated remains to any US postal address via USPS Priority Mail Express. We cannot mail to a P.O. Box. Signature is required. You may also make an appointment and pick up the cremated remains at our Care Center. Shipping outside of the State of Ohio is available for an additional fee.
Pre-arranging funeral services can be done regardless of the final disposition. Pre-arranging is simply recording your wishes with the funeral home and prefunding if you choose to do so.
Absolutely. There's a fee of $150 for in person delivery of your loved one, by a team member of Summit Simple Cremation. You may also save the $150 by picking up the cremated remains in person at our Care Center.
No. We do not currently offer pre-need or pre-arranged cremation services.
Cremations typically take two weeks, excluding weekends. A doctor must sign the death certificate. After the certificate has been signed, the County Health Departments must review the death certificate and issue a permit authorizing the cremation. This process cannot be expedited. If the person is at the Medical Examiner's Office, then cremation takes place sooner. Once the death has been registered and all the permits and authorizations received, we may proceed with the cremation and ordering of the death certificates.
MARCH 2020 NOTICE:
DUE TO THE CURRENT COVID-19 PANDEMIC, CREMATIONS MAY TAKE 2-3 WEEKS. MOST PHYSICIAN'S AND HOSPITALITS'S OFFICE PERSONNEL ARE WORKING REMOTELY. THIS AFFECTS THE TIME THAT THE CREMATION AND ORDERING OF DEATH CERTIFICATES MAY TAKE PLACE.
Option one (online): www.vitalchek.com
Option two (in person): Your local County Health Department
We notify Social Security of your loved one's passing. However, you must contact them directly if you are entitled to any benefits.
Although there is a time limit for the turn around of death certificates, sometimes a Doctor will refuse to sign a death certificate or will take more time than the law prescribes. This triggers a more in depth process where we would reach out to the local health department to assist us in having a Doctor sign a death certificate. We cannot proceed with a cremation without a signed death certificate nor without having the Medical Examiner's Office approve it. These processes cannot be expedited.
We at Summit Simple Cremation try to keep the cost of cremation low. By having families arrange online, it allows us to run our operation more efficiently and are able to keep prices low.
We offer the opportunity to see your loved one prior to the cremation taking place.
Our private family goodbye is an additonal service offering that allows up to five people, 20 minutes at our crematory
